CCSD members vote to merge with First Heritage

The membership of CCSD Federal Credit Union voted to merge with First Heritage Federal Credit Union at a special meeting Wednesday at the Elmira Heights Legion.

Although the merger became official with the affirmative vote of the majority of CCSD voting members, both institutions will continue to operate under their current names until February 2009. At that time, the combined entity will serve members under the First Heritage brand, with James Stracuzzi taking over as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Arthur D. Field will remain president and CEO until his retirement in December 2009.

Once the merger is complete, the credit union will have total assets of more than $255 million, making it one of the larger financial institutions in the area. First Heritage will operate nine branches and numerous ATMs in Elmira, Southport, Elmira Heights, Horseheads, Corning, Painted Post, Addison and Wellsboro. All branches will remain open, and no job losses are anticipated at either credit union.

In addition to greater access to banking locations, this partnership will benefit members with a broader mix of financial products and services including several different checking accounts, various deposit products, mortgage lending, Internet banking and business banking.
